Steady Progress in Emissions Litigation
We're pleased to report that the emissions claims, also known as NOx Group Litigation or Dieselgate, are moving steadily through the legal process.
In June, we (Venus Law) participated in a three-day hearing at the High Court in London, where important steps were taken to advance the group action. Costs budgets were exchanged between the parties involved, and the Court scheduled further hearings for September and October 2024, as well as Spring 2025. Closing submissions in the case are anticipated for Spring 2026.
Expanding the Scope
The claims encompass a growing list of vehicle Manufacturing Groups: Mercedes, Vauxhall/Opel, Nissan/Renault, Volkswagen/Porsche, Peugeot/Citroën, Jaguar/Land Rover, Ford, BMW, FCA/Suzuki, Volvo, Hyundai-Kia, Toyota, and Mazda.
Ford, Nissan/Renault, and Peugeot/Citroen have joined Mercedes as additional lead claims, broadening the scope of the litigation. We're hopeful that the upcoming October hearing may streamline the claims management process and help reduce delays.
The Road Ahead
Litigation of this magnitude can be time-consuming, but rest assured we are making good progress. Recent developments and favourable court rulings worldwide bolster our confidence.
We expect to share positive news about claim's advancing in the foreseeable future. Look out for more updates following October's court hearing.
